(VOVworld) – Many activities for the Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week are underway to mark the 60^th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

The program includes tourism guide contests of 8 Northwestern provinces, traditional sports, cuisine contests and fashion shows by the ethnic minority groups in Dien Bien. The event attracted the participation of both domestic and international visitors. Giang A Thang, head of Hrom village, Na Tau commune in Dien Bien district won a prize in a sports contest: "Our team has 4 people: 2 men and 2 women. We have participated in such events many times. We are so happy to win the prize today". 

Pham Van Bao is Deputy Head of Dien Bien province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: "Sports are part of activities of 2014 Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week. There are events such as the tug of war, rice cake grinding and walking on stilts. These are typical sports in the region. Through these activities, we want to preserve the values of traditional sports as well as develop tourism". 

The Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism week will close with a street parade on Saturday night.
