(VOVworld) – President of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Nguyen Dang Tien received on Tuesday a delegation from Myanmar’s Ministry of Information led by Minister Ye Htut.
The two sides stressed the important role of radio in social life and the central role of online newspapers in the communications system and agreed to boost cooperation across all media formats.
Tien briefed his guest on VOV’s Traffic Channel, National Assembly TV Channel, and online newspaper vov.vn: “The Traffic Channel has proved that radio is not only listened to in rural but also urban areas. It communicates issues relating to traffic, economics, society, and social welfare. The National Assembly TV Channel covers activities of the legislature, National Assembly delegations of 63 provinces, and People’s Councils at all levels. There are many areas on which VOV and Myanmar can cooperate including program exchanges through which to increase mutual understanding.”
Minister Htut proposed that VOV and Myanmar's National Radio and Television Station co-produce radio and television programs to boost tourism and other issues of both countries' mutual concern.
Both sides agreed to sign a new memorandum of understanding on cooperation between VOV and Myanmar’s National Radio and Television Station this year.
