VOV5 presents New Year gifts to the poor in Lai Chau province
Youth Union from Radio the Voice of Vietnam’s Overseas Service (VOV5) and Editorial Secretariat Department in coordination with Dao San Border Guard Station in the northwestern province of Lai Chau on January 7th organized a ceremony to present gifts and scholarships to poor households and pupils in Tung Qua Lin commune in Phong Tho district.

62 scholarships were presented to poor and disabled pupils of 3 villages of Cang Ky, Cang Ha and Khau Giao, a resettlement area after the devastating landslide in July 2008.

Chairman of Tung Qua Lin commune’s People’s Committee, Nguyen Chi Thanh said: “On behalf of the commune's authorities, I would like to express my thanks to the Radio Voice of Vietnam for its support for the villagers. Our lives are still difficult, thus this support is great encouragement for us on the occasion of New Year”.
Mr. Giang Chang Dinh has traveled more than 10 kilometers to attend the ceremony. He said: “I am so happy and moved to receive the assistance from Radio the Voice of Vietnam. We will feel better in the New Year.
