(VOVworld) – The first APEC Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM1) and related meetings opened on Saturday in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.

Nha Trang city hosts APEC SOM1

The meetings until March 3^rd are part of APEC Year Vietnam 2017. In the framework of SOM1, there are 60 meetings, dialogues, and workshops focusing on the theme of APEC Year 2017: “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future”. High on the agenda are specific proposals to implement priorities of the APEC Year 2017. There are nearly 1,900 delegates from 21 APEC member economies and international, regional organizations plus entrepreneurs and scholars. 

Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son assumes the Chair of the 3 Senior Officials Meetings, including the ongoing SOM1 in Nha Trang, SOM2 in Hanoi in May, and SOM3 in Ho Chi Minh City in August.
