AMM 29 approves 4 documents for APEC Economic Leaders’ Week
(VOVWORLD) - The 29th APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM), which closed on Thursday morning after 3 sessions, has approved 4 documents, which will be submitted to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
These include a framework on transnational e-commerce facilitation, the APEC strategy on micro, small and medium sized, sustainable and creative enterprises, an action plan on food security and climate change towards 2020, and an action program on urban and rural development. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh told an international press briefing on Thursday afternoon: "In the context of regional and global changes, APEC continues its role as the region’s leading economic mechanism with high flexibility and resilience. APEC Ministers have vowed to maintain their cooperation and connectivity within APEC and discussed specific solutions to boost trade liberalization and investment facilitation in the bloc, speed up the realization of Bogor Goals, enhance quality growth with a focus on improving its members’ capacity in international economic connectivity."

APEC Ministers have also agreed on the necessity of mapping out a new cooperative model for APEC after 2020. Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade and Co-Chair of AMM29, said: "Issues discussed at AMM 29 meetings are expected to be approved at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. These issues reflect APEC member economies’ interests and concerns, contributing to regional economics and globalization, and improving the global multilateral trade."
According to Minister Anh, Vietnam’s initiatives and proposals at the meetings were hailed as reflecting Vietnam’s on-going global integration process and APEC’s globalization.
