(VOVWORLD) - Located at No. 1 Bach Thao in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district, the President Ho Chi Minh Relic site inside the Presidential Palace is a special national monument where Uncle Ho lived, worked, convalesced and took his last breath through 1954-1969. After Uncle Ho's passing the site is open to the public.

In 2009, the Prime Minister signed a decree to list the site, considered an open museum of President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career, as a National Special Relic.
The 14 ha complex features more than 1,700 artifacts, including President Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, a kitchen where he had daily meals with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, as well as a room where the Politburo held meetings and Uncle Ho convalesced and passed away on September 2, 1969.
"All the artifacts are preserved with the latest technologies. Regular, periodical, long-term, and short-term preservation plans have been carried out annually," said Nguyen Thi Xuan, Head of the Relic Conservation Division of the Presidential Palace.
President Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house is considered the heart of the relic site which is surrounded by a fish pond, an orchard and flower gardens. The house reflects his simple yet noble lifestyle.
"The house is a valuable asset for the entire Vietnamese nation. Over the past half century, the area has always been and will forever be a national relic site of Vietnam where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked until his death," said Do Hoang Linh, Deputy Director of the Presidential Palace’s Relic Site.

The relic site has cooperated with media interests to produce reports, clips and documentaries about the Presidential Palace and President Ho Chi Minh. Competitions, seminars, and photo exhibitions related to President Ho Chi Minh are also held regularly at the site, according to Pham Hoang Diep, Deputy Head of the Site’s Education and Communications Division.
"In response to the Politburo’s campaign to encourage citizens nationwide to follow Uncle Ho’s example and moral lifestyle, the relic site has become a popular venue for delegations of schools and agencies to visit to gain a better understanding about President Ho Chi Minh. Since its public opening, the site has welcomed more than 80 million domestic and foreign visitors from 170 countries, many among them heads of state and high-ranking leaders from around the world," said Diep.
Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "Museums and relic sites of countries worldwide have asked to cooperate and coordinate with us. The site is of great significance in promoting President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and moral lifestyle to Vietnamese people and visitors worldwide."
