(VOVWORLD) - At the opening session of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong presented the 12th Party Central Committee’s report highlighting Vietnam’s achievements in national development and tasks for the next years. The 12th Party Central Committee’s report presented by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong covers three major issues: preparation of documents for the 13th National Party Congress, review of the 12th Party Congress and 35 years of national renewal, and tasks for the 13th Party tenure and beyond.
Documents embrace wisdom of the Party, people
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu trong said over the past two years, sub-committees have closely coordinated with research agencies, ministries, and sectors at all levels to prepare the documents. After being studied and receiving feedback, reasonable opinions were placed into the draft documents.
'Preparation of the draft documents for the 13th Party National Congress went through many rounds in a meticulous, thoughtful, and methodical manner, being improved at each step with important changes in content and method. The draft documents embrace the wisdom of the people and the Party and reflect consensus between the Party’s will and people’s aspirations,' said Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong.

Tireless efforts through Party tenures
Reviewing the 12th Party Congress and 35 years of national renewal, the Party General Secretary said that, over the last five years, the Party, the people, and the army have upheld patriotism, solidarity, determination, and creativeness to work relentlessly toward very important and comprehensive achievements. Thanks to such efforts, Vietnam has witnessed robust and sustainable growth with heightened trust among the people. Vietnam has obtained remarkable achievements against the pre-renewal period. Mr. Trong said, 'Our country has never before enjoyed the status, potential, influence, and international prestige that we have today. These achievements are results of creativity and thanks to tireless efforts from the Party, people and army throughout Party tenures, affirming Vietnam’s path to socialism, the Party’s guidelines on renewal, and that the Party leadership plays a decisive role in the success of the Vietnamese revolutions. The Party’s political platform is the flag of ideology and theory leading the nation toward comprehensive, synchronous renewal and lays a foundation for the Communist Party of Vietnam to fine-tune its guideline on the construction and safeguarding of socialist Vietnam.'
Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong said 5 lessons can be drawn from Vietnam’s development process including acknowledging the people as its root. 'The people are the center of the renewal process and the cause of national construction and defense. All policies should stem from the people’s lives, aspirations, rights, and interests to ensure their happiness and prosperity.' Future orientations
Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong said the entire Party, the people and the army should strictly adhere to 5 guiding principles in pursuing the renewal orientation in the future.
'The guiding principles include persisting with and creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and HCM Thought, persisting with the goal of national independence and socialism, the Party’s renewal guidelines, and Party building principles, ensuring the highest national interests based on the basic principles of international law, and fair cooperation to build and safeguard socialist Vietnam. This is a matter of principle and is crucial for the country’s regime, and a firm foundation for the Party, which cannot be hindered by anyone.' said Mr. Trong.
Mr. Trong said that Vietnam aims to become a developing country toward modern industry with income surpassing the low-middle level by 2025; a developing country with modern industry and high-middle income by 2030; and a developed country with high income by 2045. Other reports have underlined 12 strategic orientations for the 2021-2030 period to meet these goals.
Mr. Trong confirms Vietnam’s determination to fulfill all tasks, including Party building and rectification, strengthening a socialist state governed by law and a strong political apparatus, drastically and effectively reforming economic growth model, developing high-quality human resources, inspiring the spirit, will, and determination of the people to develop a prosperous and happy nation, and improving external affairs and international integration. Mr. Trong said, 'It’s necessary to improve the efficiency of external affairs and international integration, particularly at regional and local level and businesses. Opportunities from international integration should be fully used, particularly signed free trade agreements. A modern diplomacy will be built, focusing on defense and security diplomacy for early and visionary national defense. Economic diplomacy should be enhanced for national development. Cultural diplomacy should be expanded to enhance national power.'
Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong said that with a path in line with the law, the Party’s will and people’s trust, Vietnam will surely obtain amazing achievements to advance toward socialism and successfully fulfill President Ho Chi Minh’s wish and national aspiration.
