The national teleconference reviewing the five-year implementation of the 12-tenure Politburo's Directive 05-CT-TW on enhancing the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle on June 12.

Directive 5 focuses on enhancing the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example in close connection with the Party Resolution on Party building and rectification and preventing and combating political ideological, morality, and lifestyle degradation, and signs of self-evolution and  self-transformation. Due to complex development in Vietnam and around the world, it’s more important to enhance the movement, defend the Party’s ideological foundation, and combat wrongdoings and hostility to meet the demand of the revolution in the new period.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong quoted the Resolution of the 13^th National Party Congress saying that it’s important to resolutely and patiently implement the Resolution of the 4^th Plenum of the 11^th Party Central Committee and the Resolution of the 4^th Plenum of the 12^th Party Central Committee on Party building in association with accelerating the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example, thought and lifestyle with strong, resolute, and coordinated manner. Mr. Trong said Party committees, administrations, and agencies need to push up this movement, and implement tasks set out at the Conclusion of the Party Politburo on enhancing the studying of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle.

Le Duc Duc, Head of the Department of Communication and Education of the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee, said, 'The resolution of the 13^th Party Committee upholds the spirit of promoting self-reliance and the aspiration for national prosperity and happiness. Lai Chau province has a lot of advantages for development but we are developing slowly. We need to encourage Party members and the public to strengthen the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.'

Party leader Trong said the movement should focus on studying, following, and setting example. This studying should become the lifestyle, the mindset, and the method of each Party member and citizen in order to integrate President Ho chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle into people’s lives and become a firm spiritual foundation for the Party, people and soldiers to bring into play their internal strength to overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfill revolutionary tasks in the new period. Following means promoting, transforming learning into following, and taking specific, practical actions to realize political tasks at the local levels, while Party building and rectification should be linked to upholding the accountability and morality of each civil worker and party member, effectively addressing breakthroughs and problems with HCM Thought and Marxism-Leninism being the lodestars. Setting a good example means connecting studying with following President HCM’s moral example.

Minister of Public Security To Lam said, ' We need to tighten discipline and behavior in the public security force, organize training on skills and behaviors, collect comments and evaluation of our services from agencies, organizations, and people. It’s also important to regularly inspect and monitor implementation of Decree 5 linked with the Resolution of the 4^th Plenum of the 12^th Party Central Committee, Decree 4 of the Ministry of Public Security and the movement to promptly discover and praise role models in performing this task.'

Party leader Trong expressed his hope that the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh will be implemented with more practical, and effective activities in order to successfully realize the Resolution of the 13^th National Party Congress and contribute to national construction and defense to make Vietnam a high-income country by the middle of the 21^st century when Vietnam celebrates its 100^th founding anniversary.
