(VOVWORLD) - Cao Bang province intends to develop its border economy and become an international transit hub for goods. It has mobilized its resources to make border trade a spearhead sector.
One of the key development goals of Cao Bang province is to become an international transit hub. |
Over the last 5 years, Cao Bang province has invested in major projects to connect provincial roads with border gates to facilitate import and export activities and tourism.
The highway from Dong Dang in Lạng Sơn province to Tra Linh in Cao Bằng province is under construction. The highway will reduce travel time from Cao Bang province to Hanoi and connect with the international transport route from Lach Huyen seaport in Hai Phong to Urumqi, China; Khorgos, Kazakhstan; and Europe.
Lai Xuan Mon, Secretary of Cao Bang’s provincial Party Committee, said: “This is the key itinerary for regional development as well as Cao Bang province. It is expected to make a breakthrough for the province and benefit local people’s lives.”
One of Cao Bang province’s key development targets in the next 5 years is to become an international transportation center. It has upgraded infrastructure for the Tra Linh border gate, improved logistics, facilitated import-export businesses, and simplified customs procedures.
Tra Linh border gate in Vietnam and Long Ping border gate in China’s Guangxi province have been designed to connect trade activities of ASEAN countries and China.
Hoang Xuan Anh, Chairman of the Cao Bang provincial People’s Committee, said: “Cao Bang province will carry out a number of measures, including infrastructure and policies for border trade, and will propose the government to put the cross-border highway into operation, and build an economic cooperation zone between Vietnam and China. We believe these activities will boost the province’s economy.”
Cao Bang province has rapidly reformed its administrative procedures and border development policies to improve the local business environment and achieve its goal of becoming an international transit hub for goods.
