(VOVworld)- The resolution of the 4^th Plenum of the 11^th Party Central Committee asserts the importance of criticism and self-criticism in Party building. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has stressed criticism and self-criticism are the crucial factors in addressing weaknesses and shortcomings in Party building.

Criticism and self criticism are an important part of the Party’s activities. It is also a basic principle in the development of the Party and the fundamental method of consolidating and strengthening unity within the Party. It’s vital for the Party in the current period of national development.

Duplicating role models

Phuc Tho district in Hanoi is a role model in implementing the Party’s resolution on Party building. The district has been successful in responding to the new rural development program and maintaining law and order. Secretary of Phuc Tho district’s Party Committee Ngo Duy Hieu said the district’s achievements are due to implementing the Party’s resolution on Party building: “In response to the Party’s resolution on Party building, we focus on criticism and self-criticism and promoting the vanguard role of Party members. After reviewing our performances, we work out plans to address shortcomings of the Party committee and each Party member. We review the performance of each Party member every 3 months and of the Party Committee every 6 months. We also ask members of the district’s Party Standing Committee and its Vice President to report their own plans for addressing their shortcomings. This reporting system demands efforts by all Party members”.

The Party’s resolution on Party building has contributed to improving the performance of Party members in Hanoi. In regular meetings, about 80% of Party Committees and Party cells are classified as strong organizations.

Criticism and self-criticism are widely carried out among Party organizations

The resolution on Party building has been widely implemented among Party organizations at all levels. Criticism and self-criticism has been carried out in association with specific solutions to address shortcomings and weaknesses in order to improve the Party’s capabilities and fighting capacity. This work is reflected in the performance of the Party, State, government and local authorities at all levels. The Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat frankly and seriously criticized and self-criticized setting an example for Party committees and organizations at the grassroots level. In response to the resolution, since 2012, Party organizations have reviewed their performance, conducted votes of confidence, worked out human resource plans, fine-tuned mechanisms, and strengthened the fight against corruption and waste.

Promoting criticism and self criticism

Criticism and self-criticism under the resolution of the 4^th Plenum of the 11^th Party Central Committee are focused on promoting the vanguard role of the leaders of organizations. Associate Professor Doctor Ngo Huu Thao of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Political Public Administration says:“Criticism and self-criticism need to be carried out among high-ranking officials and leaders. The Party and State leaders need to set an example for other Party members to follow. Political leaders need to carry out this work impartially to gain objective results”.

Activities carried out in response to the resolution on Party building have contributed significantly to Party building and preventing political and moral degradation and unhealthy lifestyle among some Party members. The resolution has resulted in drastic changes in Party activities and strengthened the Communist Party of Vietnam.
