Election candidates and action plans
(VOVworld) – The candidates elected to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 term are expected to best represent the people’s needs and aspirations at the highest state agencies at the central and local level. Voters expect the elected candidates will help to build a state governed by law of the people, for the people, and by the people.

National Assembly deputies and People’s Council members are supposed to be close to the people and listen to their opinions and reflect them to relevent agencies for prompt resolutions. Most of the candidates’ action plans are aimed at a reformed National Assembly to improve its legislative performance. Nguyen Lam Thanh, Vice President of the National Assembly Ethnic Council, said: “Voters will supervise the performances of the elected candidates and their contributions to local socio-economic development. The media plays an important role in helping the elected candidates keep their promises and the voters to monitor their activities.”
Living up to voters’ trust
Voters’ expectations for improved material and spiritual lives and all the best for their local communities have been acknowledged by the candidates, who promised to consider and settle if they are elected. Tran Phuoc Xao of Hanoi said the elected candidates should live up to voters’ trust: “The elected candidates should best represent the people. Those who don’t take actions will serve for nothing.”
Nguyen Van Tam of Hanoi said: “ I hope that the candidates will be enthusiastic in elected state agencies and combat corruption.”
Nguyen Ngoc Thanh of Phu Tho province said: “We will appreciate if the elected candidates keep their promises, which will contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development. I hope that they will do more than what they have promised.”
