Vietnam Family Day 2020 is themed "Preserving and promoting good behaviour among family members" and the National Action Month Against Domestic Violence in June focuses on "Domestic violence prevention as the responsibility of evey level and sector of society."

Activities have been held in many localities to celebrate Vietnam Family Day and respond to the action month. These activities have included art, cultural and sport exchanges, and discussions on creating a happy family, on behavioral skills, preventing domestic violence, gender equality, and child protection.

Professor Le Thi Quy of the Institute for Gender and Development, said, “Domestic violence affects a child's personality. Many studies have proved that boys who witness domestic violence at a young age are terrified at first, but later on, will mistreat their wives similarly. Girls become timid, unselfconfident, and anxious for life.”

A host of activities are underway during the 2020 Vietnam Family Festival at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi from Friday to Sunday. This year, the festival features exhibitions, seminars, conferences, health consultations, and cultural exchanges.
