(VOVWORLD) - A film week to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture opened on Saturday. The nationwide event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities, and the National Cinema Center.

The film week introduces 10 films about culture, President Ho Chi Minh, and Vietnam, its land and people. They include four feature films ("Red Dawn", "Thunderstorm", "Fire Flamboyant", and "The Prophet"), four documentaries (“Ho Chi Minh, 1946”, "Culture lights the path of the nation", "Chau Van – sacred sound" and "80 years of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture"), and two animations ("Miracle of Da Trach lagoon" and "Diamond Wings").

The documentary film “80 years of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture” will be broadcast on VTV1 at 8:30 pm on Monday. It will also be aired on local TV channels. The film features the birth, historical significance, and theoretical and practical value of the 1943 Outline of Vietnamese Culture. The 40-minute documentary recounts the long journey since the Outline, drafted by Party General Secretary Truong Chinh, was approved at the Conference of the Party Central Committee in February, 1943.
Nguyen Quy Manh Minh, the documentary’s director, said: "The film gathers a large amount of documents and materials featuring Vietnamese culture from 1943 to the August Revolution in 1945 and to National Day of September 2, 1945, then the resistance war against the French and then the anti-US war. Under the Party leadership, culture made a great contribution to national liberation. Then, during the period of peace restoration and national renewal, culture maintained its important role, becoming a tool to enrich people’s lives."
The 1943 Outline stated three principles of “nationalisation”, “popularisation”, and “scientification”. It defined that Vietnamese culture “will be liberated by the democratic revolution and freed from shackles and could catch up with the world's neo-democratic culture.”
