At the launch of the Humanitarian Month 2024

Throughout Humanitarian Month, themed "Humanitarian Journey - Giving Love", the Red Cross implemented numerous activities with broad participation from authorities, sectors, and the public.

In Soc Trang, a “zero-dong market” was organized, along with the distribution of gifts and wheelchairs to poor households and Agent Orange victims, and scholarships for students.

The Dak Lak provincial Red Cross supported more than 1,000 disadvantaged individuals, established semi-boarding and boarding kitchens at preschools and elementary schools, provided livelihood support, and helped repair and build houses for impoverished fishermen.

Ms. Ayun H'Huong, President of the Dak Lak provincial Red Cross, said: "We focused our help for Buon Ma Thuot city and the Lak and Ea'Hleo districts. The Red Cross mobilizes sponsors, donors, organizations, and individuals to deliver gifts to disadvantaged households and vulnerable families."

In Da Nang, the Red Cross coordinated with hospitals to provide free medical exams and medicines to more than 1,000 poor households, improved nutrition for poor and disabled children, and repaired kitchens for kindergartens and primary schools in need.

The Vietnam Red Cross launched the "Million Steps of Kindness" campaign on the vRace mobile app. This 56-day campaign attracted nearly 100,000 participants.

Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Vietnam Red Cross, said: “We aimed to cover 700,000 km but eventually surpassed 2.5 million km. We hoped to raise 7 billion VND but received more than 14 billion. This campaign was very successful.”

Ha Thi Hang, a resident of Mai Son district, Son La province, received support to build a house during Humanitarian Month.

“My family is in difficult circumstances and owns very little land. As a hired laborer, I earned barely enough to make ends meet. With the help of the Red Cross, I was able to build a house. I’m very grateful to the Red Cross and donors,” said Hang.
