(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Red Cross Society, in collaboration with its partners, is launching the campaign “Millions of Kind Steps – Continuing the Golden History” from this weekend until May next year, aiming to mobilize social resources for humanitarian initiatives nationwide. The new drive follows the success of the “Millions of Kind Steps” campaign held early this year.
The “Millions of Kind Steps” campaign from February 25 to April 21, 2024, is a big success. |
The campaign will be launched at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on Saturday, marking the 78th anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the country’s major anniversaries in 2025. The event also promotes the movement “Good People, Good Deeds – Joining Hands to Build a Compassionate Community.”
This year’s campaign calls on the entire Red Cross system to mobilize people from all walks of life to walk and jog while engaging with an online sports platform. The objective is to encourage 200,000 participants to collectively cover 5 million kilometers, raising resources of 200,000 USD to fund humanitarian efforts.
The campaign spans six months, with provincial and municipal Red Cross chapters organizing related activities such as community walks and runs, tied to local historical, cultural, and social events. These activities will be combined with humanitarian assistance programs.
The first “Millions of Kind Steps” campaign was conducted from February 25 to April 21 this year, as part of the “Humanitarian Journey – Sharing Love” series. It commemorated the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory and the liberation of Hanoi.
Each and every step spreads the messages of humanity regarding donations of blood, tissue, and organs, as well as environmental protection, and raising funds for disadvantaged children and vulnerable communities. The campaign drew the enthusiastic participation of large crowds of people.
“The walking program was a very meaningful activity, helping us improve our health, raise funds to support and spread love to those in difficult circumstances,” said a participant.
“I feel very excited and happy to participate in this meaningful program. Not only can we improve our health, but we also spread love and positive messages in the community,” said another participant.
The program was a big success, drawing more than 95,000 participants, conquering a collective distance of nearly 2.5 million kilometers, and raising 550,000 USD - more than double the initial goals.
These efforts provided support to poor, disadvantaged groups in Thai Nguyen, Son La, and Dien Bien provinces.
Building on this momentum, the Organizing Committee hopes the “Millions of Kind Steps – Continuing the Golden History” campaign will garner wide participation from organizations and individuals across the country to help those in need.
