(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s achievements obtained during the 12th Party tenure were of great importance to its development, and diplomacy played a significant role. Diplomacy contributed to increasing international trust and elevating Vietnam’s status.

Despite unprecedented challenges at home and abroad, including natural disasters, and epidemics, Vietnam has obtained major achievements, to which diplomacy contributed significantly.
External relation activities expanded
Amid rapid changes at home, in the region, and around the world, the 12th Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, and the Party Secretariat responded with prompt guidelines and resolutions which demonstrated flexibility and capability.
Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission Hoang Binh Quan said, 'The Communist Party of Vietnam has set up relations with 247 Parties in 111 countries. During the last tenure, the Party’s external relations were expanded and deepened. Relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and other political Parties around the world have gained significant results creating a firm political foundation for Vietnam to stabilize, expand, and tighten bilateral ties with other countries and address issues of security and national development.'
In particular, relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and ruling Parties in socialist and neighboring countries and partnership countries played a key role in determining a master strategy for Vietnam’s ties with other countries.
Foundation for coming years
Through external relations, Vietnam’s prestige and status have been strengthened while its national independence, sovereignty, sovereign rights, territorial integrity, national interests, and stability have been maintained. Vietnam has contributed responsibly to international peace, stability and development gaining support and applause from the international community.
As a result, the status of Vietnam and the Party has risen internationally. Quan said, 'External relations activities of the Communist Party of Vietnam including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visits to many countries, have contributed to consolidating Vietnam’s stable, sustainable relations with other countries and helped establish new relationship frameworks between Vietnam and other countries.'
Vietnam’s achievements during the 12th tenure have created a firm foundation for Vietnam to enter a new development period.
Amid constant political and economic fluctuations in the region and around the world, the Communist Party of Vietnam has successfully implemented the 12th National Congress’s Party Resolutions on External Relations with a strategic vision leading the country in overcoming difficulties and obtain significant achievements in national defense, construction, and development. Over its 12 tenures, the Party has grown rapidly and gained great achievements, expanding on its decisive role in Vietnam’s revolutionary victories.
