The Festival for Peace marks the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement on July 20, 1954, which ended the First Indochina War and restored peace in Indochina. It also commemorates Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27, and anticipates the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 2025).

The Festival encourages everyone to join hands to build a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable life for Vietnam. It’s also an occasion to pay tribute to fallen heroes, remember war victims, and promote the image of Quang Tri.

The opening of the 2024 Festival for Peace will feature art performances designed to create emotional highlights.

Pham Thi Hang, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Sun Bright Creative Arts and Events Joint Stock Company, the organizer of the opening program, said: "For the first time, we will use an advanced technology system along with a unique format of performance and presentation on stage. We have researched the unique aspects and values of peace, as well as the distinct characteristics of Quang Tri, to create a script and a multi-connected stage. Our performances will not only take place on stage but also on the bridge, under the river, in the sky, and on both sides of the Ben Hai River simultaneously."

The Festival will include a Cycling Event for Peace, a cultural-cuisine festival, a music exchange called "Peace Melody", a Trinh Cong Son music night called "Song of Peace", and a "Wish for Peace" program featuring gratitude and memorial activities.

Mr. Ho Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province, said: "Alongside the main festival program, a series of activities will take place on weekends throughout July. 200 volunteers will be available to assist visitors, provide information, and show them how to participate in the activities."

The first Festival for Peace in Quang Tri is expected to establish this central province as a destination for solidarity and friendship and boost provincial growth.
