(VOVworld) – Vietnam is making great efforts to reform mass mobilization at the grassroots level to better serve the country’s industrialization, modernization, and international integration process.
Mass mobilization and the strength to rally the people
83 years have passed since the first Party resolution on mass mobilization took effect, helping to strengthen the bonds between the party and the people. The work has also helped the party gather people’s strength to fight foreign invaders and successfully carry out the renewal process.
Policy on mass mobilization in the new era
At its 7th plenum in May, the Party Central Committee discussed reinforcing and reforming party leadership ò mass mobilization. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the process of building a law-governed state, developing a market economy, and integrating into the world affects the ideology, feelings and lives of officials, party members and the people. He said that improving mass mobilization will help to strengthen people’s trust in the party, consolidate the bonds between the people and the party, and enhance national unity in the cause of national construction and defense. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said: “We should thoroughly comprehend Ho Chi Minh’s Thought and Party guidelines on mass mobilization and national unity. We must respect the people’s right to mastery and their interests and care for their spiritual and material lives. We must be close to the people, understand the people and trust the people. We must continue to build up the Party, the state, and the government. Party guidelines, state policies and laws must be for the people and stem from their legitimate interests and desires. State officials and Party members should be role models for the people to follow.”
Grassroots mass mobilization
The Party Mass Mobilization Commission is cooperating with relevant agencies and localities to implement Resolution 25 on increasing Party leadership of mass mobilization in the new situation. Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee of Bac Giang city, Do Yen Khanh, says: “We are reforming our communication activities. Thorough discussions with the involvement of the political system are held before any task is assigned and implemented. People’s consensus and participation are crucial to ensure effectiveness.”
Party leader Trong called for greater efforts to improve people’s awareness of the role of mass mobilization and asked localities to resolve people’s concerns regarding employment, compensation for land acquisitions, complaints and denunciations, administrative reform, traffic accidents, social problems, and social security. Trong said that Fatherland Fronts, political, social and people’s organizations should reform their performance while promoting patriotic emulation movements. Mass mobilization agencies and officials should improve their operations and better implement the mechanism of grassroots democracy.
Effective mass mobilization will help to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development and national construction and defense.
