(VOVWORLD) - At the national culture conference in 2021, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong stressed the need to pay more attention to preserving, reviving, and promoting national cultural values and national tangible and intangible cultural values of localities and ethnic groups. Mr. Trong called for promoting the soft power of Vietnamese culture to enhance national strength.

Lai Chau province has integrated the preservation and promotion of traditional culture into the school curriculum. During the last academic year, some primary and secondary schools established clubs to preserve embroidery, Mong flute, Thai singing, Thai dancing, and the Tinh Tau musical instrument.
These clubs have helped children better understand the local culture and encouraged them to preserve the culture of their ethnic groups.
Do Thi Kim Ly, Deputy Head of the Education and Training Section of Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province, said teachers and schoolchildren are required to wear traditional costumes on Monday and on special occasions.

Ms Ly said: "In order to realize the Party Resolution on preserving and promoting ethnic culture, we have asked local schools to set up clubs of folk culture preservation and organize lessons on traditional culture."
Son La province has set up art troupes to perform traditional arts and introduce local culture to visitors. The Dao Tien art troupe in Pieng Sang village, Moc Chau district, has become famous. Since a pedestrian street opened in Moc Chau district last month, on Saturday and Sunday evenings, the Dao Tien art troupe perform their folk singing and dancing to introduce their culture to visitors.
Ban Van Loi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phieng Luong commune, said the art troupe has helped to promote cultural movements at the grassroots level and has contributed to preserving the traditions and customs of the Dao Tien.
Mr. Loi said: "The local administration has increased communications to encourage local people to preserve and promote Dao traditional cultural values while developing tourism. We will set up more art troupes, refine performances, and participate in contests to encourage more people to participate in cultural activities."
Like Lai Chau and Son La province, many other localities nationwide are expanding folk culture clubs to improve public awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting the culture of ethnic groups in order to enhance the soft power of Vietnamese culture.
