Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong underscored criteria of members of the 12th Party Central Committee

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party considers cadres and personnel work the root of everything. The Party Central Committee thoroughly discussed and made straightforward recommendations to the Politburo’s report on the importance of personnel preparation for the 12th National Party Congress.
Mr. Trong said given complicated national and global developments, the 12th Party Central Committee must be a strong and united collective with a steadfast political spirit, good moral standards, innovation, discipline, and the ability to ensure unity within the Party. Party leader Trong said: “The Central Committee agrees that members of the 12th Party Central Committee must have profound patriotism, political firmness, persistence in national independence and socialism, closeness to the people, and good management competence. They must be faithful to Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s thought, the Platform and guidelines of the Party, the State Constitution, and national interests. They must also have a strong spirit, keep their word, and act as a model of complying with Party regulations and disciplines.”
The Party leader said members of the Committee must be prestigious people with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to the job who are willing to sacrifice personal interests for the sake of the Party and nation. They must promise to avoid corruption and self-serving behaviour, to fight negative, bureaucratic, and corrupting phenomena, and not allow their relatives to take advantage of their authority. Mr. Trong underlined that members of the new Party Central Committee must have strategic vision and thinking, profound political knowledge, and be able to identify and use talented people. “The Party Central Committee must not have people with the following liabilities: unsteadfast political spirit, inconsistent adherence to Party guidelines and orientations, political opportunism, words or actions at odd with the Party Platform, guidelines, and principles, excessive ambition for power, tendency to flatter, solicit, or lobby for personalgain, factionism, localism, or interest groups, demagoguery, unwillingness to fight for the right, or willing to violate the principles of democracy, be autocratic, dogmatic, bullying toward straightforward people, or cause internal instability or corruption.”
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong underscored the strong sense of responsibility of individuals and organizations: “In face of various regional and global challenges and difficulties, in order to successfully fulfill tasks and targets toward the 12th National Party Congress, every member of the Central Committee must elevate their sense of responsibility before the Party, the people, and the nation in implementing resolutions of the 11th Party Central Committee.”
Concluding his speech, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong appealed to the Party, the people, and the army to show unity in thought and action and strive to overcome all difficulties to achieve this year’s socio-economic targets and resolutions of the 11th Party Central Committee and successfully organize local Party congresses in preparation for the 12th National Party Congress.
