(VOVworld) - After the mask of the next generation of terrorists like Hoang Co Minh was removed, a number of Viet Tan's affiliated organizations have been formed such as "Voice, "Viet Labor", and "Vietnam Human Rights Network". However, these organizations have quickly been denounced and warned publicly by the overseas Vietnamese community.
Viet Tan and its affiliated organizations shifted to the model of “promoting civil society” after it overthrew the political regimes in some countries in Eastern Europe and the Middle East while the mask of “democracy struggle” had been unveiled and proved to be ineffective. However, even anti-government elements in Vietnam and abroad have strongly condemned Viet Tan and its organizations for “damaging the good values of civil society”.
The original nature of civil society organizations is not for political struggle but to evaluate how the government runs the country and to become an information channel between the people and the government. However, because it is difficult to differentiate between social mechanisms and political struggle, anti-government extremist organizations have taken advantage of civil society as its cover and to lure crowds.
According to UN regulations, democracy funds are not allowed to fund opposition parties or call for the toppling of a government regardless how deep they want to interfere in a nation’s internal affairs. Therefore, Viet Tan cannot receive money directly from these funds. Meanwhile, the budget of Viet Tan is increasingly tight because it is boycotted by the community and its affiliated organizations cannot raise money from the overseas community as easy as before. Viet Tan has no other ways but to hide in the shadow of civil society organizations by establishing its own “civil society organizations” or manipulating other spontaneous opposition groups. Therefore, for over a year now, there have been a number of groups in the name of “civil society organizations” on the Internet, whose members are familiar to everyone because a person can be a member of 3, 4 organizations.
Some organizations have been established by Viet Tan acting in the name of civil society organizations such as “Fighters for Democracy”, “Vietnam Blogger Network”, “The Brothers of Democracy”, “Prisoners of Conscience Fund”, and “Mutual Support Society”. These organizations are formed by Viet Tan with the aim of recruiting people for its organizations and more importantly developing projects to raise funds abroad. Such projects as human rights advocacy (human rights picnic, human rights coffee...) have been meticulously planned from personnel to expenditure for fundraising. Despite their names, these organizations have not promoted civil society in Vietnam but on the contrary misinterpreted civil society organizations into political opposition organizations.
In one form or another, these organizations are easily recognized by Vietnamese people because their operating methods are similar. Foreign democracy funds will soon be disappointed despite the establishment or manipulation of many civil society organizations on social networks to create an illusion of “growth” and “real strength” and next year, perhaps, the public will see Viet Tan in another cover.
