(VOVWORLD) - Many activities and programs to raise public awareness and promote reading culture have been organised nationwide in response to Vietnam Book Day on April 21.

More than 70 publishers are participating in a national online book festival that will run until May 15 at book365.vn to introduce 30,000 books published over the past 3 years. This year's online festival, the second of its kind, is themed "Books for All Families".
Duong Hoang Ha, a teacher of Chuong Duong High School in Hanoi, said, “Such a book festival is extremely necessary in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I think when students participate in such events, they will love reading more.”
Entitled "Books - Mission to develop reading culture", the ongoing Book Festival 2021 at the National Library in Hanoi offers a series of activities including an exhibition and a seminar titled “Youth with Reading Culture” to introduce and present books of favorite writers.
A number of activities for children are being held along, such as drawing illustrations for books, parents’ reading books for children, and exploring digital library of over 2,000 books in more than 20 different languages.

Nguyen Xuan Dung, Deputy Director of the National Library, said books that won prizes at last year’s National Book Awards are also displayed.
He added, “In our program ‘Young people with reading culture’, we display 27 sets of books that won national book prizes, of which 3 won prize A, 10 won prize B, and 14 won prize C. We want to introduce to the public the books which are being archived at the national library in a hope that people will be more interested in reading. ”
As part of the Vietnam Book Day, Kim Dong publishing house is offering children a special discount of up to 50% on books, free delivery, and gifts.
Vu Thi Quynh Lien, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the publishing house, said, “On this occasion, we will introduce a new book collection in addition to books about history and Hanoi. A set of literature books is introduced. We reserve a booth at the National Library to introduce books and special offers for readers.”
