Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece takes photo with Hero Nguyen Van Lap

The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece screened a documentary film about Kostas Sarantidis, a Greek citizen, also known as Nguyen Van Lap, and a documentary film titled “Living underground”. The films, screened for the first time in Greece, won the hearts of the audience. A Vietnam Film Week took place in Greece in June. A month later, a photo exhibition featuring Vietnam’s history and a series of performances of Vietnam’s traditional music instruments and folk dances took place. Tran Ha Phuong is Vietnam’s Ambassador to Greece: “The Greeks love Vietnam and know about Vietnam. But they know about Vietnam during the war better than the modern, integrating and developing Vietnam. During my term, the Vietnamese Embassy and I have worked hard to promote the image of Vietnam, a modern, integrating, and peace-loving country.”

The two countries have also strengthened economic cooperation. Ms Phuong again: “Greece has a developed maritime transport sector. Greece’s fleets account for one fifth of the world’s fleet. The Vietnamese embassy has helped connect maritime transport companies of the two countries. Last year, we worked with Vinalines to organize a seminar in Greece inviting more than 50 Greek ship owners. The two sides signed a number of business contracts. They will set up joint ventures of maritime logistics and transport or exchange sailors.”

The two countries enjoy a strong potential for tourism and trade cooperation. In the near future, they will share experience on hospitality services and train tourism workers.
