Vietnam Pho Festival leaves deep impression in Seoul

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam Pho Festival 2024 took place last weekend in Seoul, South Korea, attracting a large number of Korean people, international tourists, and Vietnamese expatriates. The festival left unforgettable impressions on food enthusiasts.

Co-organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and Saigon Tourist Group, the festival featured 70 booths, including 40 booths selling pho, a Vietnamese soup dish consisting of broth, rice noodles and meat, plus other dishes and Korean delicacies. There was a cultural space exhibiting Vietnam’s culture and tourism.

The festival welcomed about 28,000 visitors, who tried some of 40 Vietnamese dishes such as pho, banh mi, and noodles. Over 100 meetings between Vietnamese and South Korean businesses in tourism, trade, and services were held and 20 MoUs were signed. The event was widely covered on local and Vietnamese media.

Le The Chu, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, said: “Pho has been a culinary symbol of Vietnam and loved by many people around the world. It is a typical dish of the Vietnamese cuisine, which reflects the soul of the Vietnamese people. The Pho Festival introduces the unique flavor of Pho and Vietnam’s culinary culture so that Korean and Vietnamese people can better understand each other and promote more cultural activities.”

Nguyen Bach Hoang Phung, Vice Chairman of Thu Duc city’s People’s Committee, said: “In the coldness of Seoul, it’s really emotional to eat Vietnamese rice noodles. It’s a wonderful chance to eat Vietnamese delicious food. Vietnamese Pho Festival should be held regularly in other countries.”

The Pho Festival is an opportunity for Vietnamese and South Korean people to exchange and enjoy Vietnamese delicacies.
