The Women’s Union of Can Tho city has conducted a number of activities to kindle love and inspire the community to share, care, and guarantee equality for women and girls, particularly among the less fortunate. It has persuaded businesses and agencies to help build 2 charity houses, give scholarships to children who lost their parents to COVID-19, and contribute to a program to help women living in border areas in 2022. Vo Kim Thoa, Chairman of the Women’s Union of Can Tho city, said: “We have encouraged all women in Can Tho city to respond to Ao dai Week from March 1 to March 8 and participate in the national tree planting festival.”

As an organization created to protect the rights and interests of women, the Women’s Union of Dak Lak province has enhanced communications to discourage gender-related violence.

H Ra Mơ Ayun of Bling hamlet said: “I learned a lot by attending the talks on preventing gender violence. I now understand the seriousness of domestic violence and child abuse, particularly of girls. I will share what I learned with other women in my hamlet and with my children.”

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in Hanoi, women are working on the frontline, connecting the community, and engaging in social security activities.  Women’s associations at all levels have initiated new social models during the pandemic, such as shopping for people confined in lockdown areas, making up paper containers of medicines, forming community COVID-19 prevention and control teams, giving free medicine to COVID-19 patients and free meals to the frontline workers, and helping to carry out vaccinations. Women’s unions nationwide have used social networks to communicate with families about State laws and policies on pandemic prevention and control.
