(VOVWORLD) - An event called “Vietnam National Day” was held at the World Expo 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday. After being delayed for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EXPO 2020 Dubai is drawing more than 200 countries and territories.

The Vietnam National Day event at the EXPO Dubai featured a Vietnamese flag hoisting ceremony, a parade, and a showcase of Vietnamese red flags with a yellow star at Al Wasl Plaza – an iconic dome structure with the largest 360-degree projection surface in the world, an art performance themed “the eternal flow”, a roadshow, Vietnam Film Week, a painting exhibition featuring works by young painter Xeo Chu, a program to introduce Vietnam and its policies on external affairs, economics, investment, trade and tourism.

Vietnam’s Miss Universe 2017 H’Hen Nie was selected the image representative of the program. Vietnamese exhibits have received much attention from foreign media, particularly new initiatives on sustainability including sports shoes made from coffee waste and plastic waste, and Vietnam’s circular economic model in coffee production.

In the spotlight of Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2020 Dubai was an art program “The Eternal Flow” which featured 150 musicians, models and artists and a performance of Vietnamese traditional musical instruments to show the richness of Vietnamese culture.

To Thi Ngoc Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Dak Nong province’s People’s Committee, said: “The fashion show with the title “The eternal flow” featuring brocade weaving products is an effort to preserve the brocade culture of Vietnamese ethnic minority people. We hope the beauty of their brocade products will be promoted by designers.”

The 170-year-old World Expo is among the world’s oldest and largest events, only after the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. It has provided a platform to showcase the greatest innovations that have shaped the world today. The World Expo 2020 Dubai themed “Connecting minds, creating the future” is running from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, and is expected to receive 25 million visitors.
