Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, said the city has integrated components for sustainable marine economic development in implementing the Party Politburo resolution on Da Nang’s Development until 2030 and Vision to 2045. The city is combining resort tourism and coastal resort real estate with culture tourism at the Marble Mountain (Ngu Hanh Son) complex, Mr. Minh said.
"Da Nang is restructuring its fishery sector, moving toward near-shore fishing, and promoting offshore fishing, while safeguarding maritime sovereignty. With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, we are upgrading the Tho Quang fishing port, other seaports, and wholesale markets to serve fishing and tourism development,' said Mr. Minh.

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh says the marine economy has become a driver of national economic development, contributing 60% of Vietnam’s GDP. Over the past 4 years, central and local agencies have adopted programs and action plans to realize the Party resolution on sustainable marine economic development until 2030 with a vision to 2045, with fisheries a top priority. Mr. Tuan Anh stressed the need to harmonize economic development with environment protection.
He said: In addition to sustainability, we need to ensure rapid development and harmony with environmental protection, conservation of marine biodiversity, sustainable response to climate change and rising sea levels, and the close connection between people’s lives, economic development, and marine culture development. These are the orientations stipulated in the resolution."
Vietnam’s sea has a rich diversity of fishery reserves with more than 2,000 fish species, including 110 species with high economic value. 18 coastal economic zones have been established, and the Vietnamese Party, State and Government have worked hard to boost the fishery sector.
