The program was part of a joint project between ActionAid Vietnam and Binh Tan precint to improve kindergarten access for immigrant families.

Education is a child’s basic right. A survey conducted in 2018 by ActionAid Vietnam, the Aid for Social Protection Foundation Vietnam (AFV), and Binh Tan precint showed that 33% of the people in Binh Tan had difficulty sending their children to school, mostly because the schools were too far away and the school fees were too high.

The volunteers from the Kyo-Won Group and ChildFund Korea came to support the building of a kindergarten in Binh Tan and organize cultural exchanges on the topic of children’s education rights.

They make toys for the school

Together with the teachers of Cam Tu kindergarten, they created murals, repaired the playground and toys, and organized games to teach the kids about Vietnamese and Korean culture. They translated a set of Story Phonics from English into Vietnamese and gave the school 600 books.

Kyo-Won Executive Director Jang Pyeong Soon said his company got involved in educational and social activities to give children equal education opportunities and nurture their talents.

Hoang Phuong Thao, Head of ActionAid Vietnam, said the project helps immigrant families give their children a better education. ActionAid Vietnam wants to expand the program to other localities to benefit more children.
