(VOVWORLD)-Vietnam Ao Dai Week, from March 1-8, has been welcomed enthusiastically across the country. The event rekindles the responsibility to preserve and promote national cultural heritage.

During Ao Dai Week, Women's Union branches in provinces and cities across the country promote the wearing of the traditional gown on International Women’s Day, March 8, and throughout the week wherever working conditions allow.
Ha Thi Nga, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union, said: “The Vietnam Women’s Union wishes to inspire and spread meaningful and positive messages of love, national pride, and particularly Vietnamese ao dai to the wider public. We hope that the values of ao dai will soon be recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, and even a world cultural heritage."
"Let's work together to widely spread the image of ao dai and promote Vietnam’s unique and rich cultural values,” Nga said.
On Sunday, 100 officials and members of the Women’s Union of Da Nang city dressed in ao dai and paraded along streets in residential areas. Female public servants are encouraged to wear ao dai to work this week.
Pham Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hoa Xuan ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang city, said: “The ward Women's Union has organized a movement called "Every woman has a beautiful gesture; every women’s organization has a meaningful action". Responding to Ao Dai Week, local women wearing ao dai parade along streets to promote women’s role in protecting Vietnamese culture.”

The Women’s Union of Kon Tum province held a Gala Night where 350 women modeled an ao dai collection called “Po Lang Flowers” by designer Ngoc Minh and a collection called “Returning to the heritage region” by designer Kim Yen.
