40th anniversary of aerial victory celebrated in Moscow

(VOVworld)-The Vietnamese embassy and community in Russia has held a get-together to mark the 68th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22nd), the 40th anniversary of the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air victory, and the 23rd anniversary of National Defense Day.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese ambassador to Russia Pham Xuan Son stressed that during the 12 historic days and nights of the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air battle, the former Soviet Union, now Russia helped the Vietnamese people a great deal. Russia sent experts to Vietnam to train Vietnamese soldiers contributing significantly to this glorious victory. Ambassador Son: Remembering all the hardships during those war days and our glorious victory, we are very proud of all the achievements and developments of Vietnam nowadays. We believe in a bright future of our country and our people from generations to generations deeply grateful to the former Soviet Union, now Russia, and to experts and counselors who had spared no efforts to help Vietnam during its resistance war of which many of them had sacrificed their life for the independence of Vietnam as to their own nation.
Son expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Russia will continue to uphold the tradition of great unity to help each other in studying, working and contributing to the development of the long-lasting friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
