Do Thi Phuong Thao, a communications officer with the company says: “Our company is now promoting year end tours of the northwest. At this time of the year, the landscape in the region is very beautiful. Our tours start on the weekend and are often crowded. The number of visitors to the region will increase during Christmas and New Year. The price for a 5-day tour is 220 USD”.
Moc Chau and Son La are the first destinations on the tour. In December, tourists like to visit Moc Chau to admire the colorful flowers there. There are hills of mustard, tea, apricot and many other colorful flowers inspiring tourist to take endless snap shots. Ms Thao says: “Visiting the region this time of the year, tourists will be amazed by white mustard flower carpets on both sides of the road. They create the very beautiful scenes for photos. Tourists can also explore tea hills, learn about tea processing, and visit dairy farms”.
The next stop of the tour is Dien Bien, where tourists can visit historical relics including A1 Hill, De Castries' tunnel, the Command bunker of the Dien Bien Phu campaign and General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tunnel. Dien Bien is also home to the Thai ethnic minority people whose unique culture, houses, dances and singing inspire a lot of tourists.
Those who don’t have much time prefer package tours, but most young tourists are interested in exploring the region on their own. They often go there by motorbike to enjoy the adventurous feeling of conquering the twisting roads and admiring the magnificent landscapes. Hoang Linh, a young travel lover says he particularly likes O Quy Ho pass, which connects Lai Chau and Lao Cai province. “During my trip to the northwest region, I really liked O Quy Ho pass because this pass is very long and difficult but the landscape is magnificent. The fog is thick with visibility of just 5 m. I was very impressed by the vast sea of fog in the valley”, said Linh.

Many people combine their tour with humanitarian activities. Duy Viet says such tours help him learn more about the lives of local people. Duy Viet says he and his friends are planning to go to Y ty in Lao Cai province. “A tour of the northwest region can be combined with charitable activities. We will go to Y Ty and Hong Ngai, a commune with many houses with earthen walls and a Ha Nhi ethnic minority population. We will organize charitable activities there. We are very interested in visiting the north and the west of Vietnam because each has its own beauty”, said Viet.
Terraced fields and mountain market sessions are top attractions of this region. A tour of the northwest region to explore its landscape and people will be unforgettable. Moc Chau, Son La, Muong Phang, Dien Bien, Sapa, Bac Ha and Lao Cai are all famous tourist destinations.
