(VOVworld)- Tam Duong village in Thai Binh province was the birthplace of the Tran dynasty from the 13th to the 15th century (1226-1400). The village is also the rest place of several Emperors of the Tran dynasty.

Tam Duong village, also called Thai Duong, is located in the center of Duc Tien commune. Tran dynasty relics carry traces of Emperors Tran Thai Tong, Tran Thanh Tong, Tran Nhan Tong, and outstanding generals like Tran Thu Do, Tran Hung Dao, and Tran Quang Khai. Nguyen Van Bon is Deputy Head of the Tran Temple Relic Site: “Vietnam has its national founder and each province has its own sacred land. Thai Binh province and Hung Ha district consider Tam Duong village their sacred land. The village attracts a large number of visitors from all across the country. Local people are proud of their village where the tombs of emperors, empresses,and princesses from the Tran dynasty are located. Local people often organize incense burning ceremonies in the relic site”.

Covering more than 5,000 square meters, the temple dedicated to the Tran Emperors and Saint Tran Hung Dao was built in a sophisticated way. Mr. Bon said: “The relic site comprises temples dedicated to Tran Kings, the Mother of Goddess, and Saint Tran Hung Dao. Outside the temples are the tombs of Emperors Tran Thai Tong, Tran Thanh Tong, and Tran Nhan Tong”.

The tombs of the Tran Emperors cover moulds that rise 5 to 6 meters above the lowlands in Thai Binh Province. Despite having reduced in size, the biggest tomb still covers more than 400 square meters. The tombs are beautifully decorated with bricks from the Tran dynasty at their feet. For locals and visitors alike, Tran Temple is a sacred place of worship.

The Tran Temple festival in Tam Duong village, Thai Binh province, takes place during the first lunar month. It attracts a large number of visitors, who come not only to worship but also to participate in festive activities including palanquin procession, fish feast contests, and martial arts events. Tran Thi Tham is a Tam Duong villager: “The temple is always busy and crowded on the first day of the month and the full-moon day. Local people come to pray for good luck”.

Over the past 8 centuries, tombs and temples for the Tran emperors have been preserved respectfully by the people of Thai Binh During festivals, thousands of pilgrims visit the Tran temple to pay a debt of gratitude to the Tran Kings for their contribution to national construction and defense.
