(VOVWORLD) - Moc Chau, 190 kilometers from Hanoi, is a popular tourist destination in Son La province in northwestern Vietnam. It’s beautiful, whether on dreamy, foggy days in the winter or brilliantly sunny days in the summer. Its cool climate makes Moc Chau a delightful resort all year round.
The peach and plum blossoms of Moc Chau are in full bloom in January and February. The plum harvest season occurs between May and August, when it’s scorching hot in the delta, making Moc Chau’s cool breezes and fresh air a welcome getaway where visitors can pick the fruits themselves. The October-December period is when blooming white mustard flowers and yellow wild sunflowers stretch to the horizon. The flowers are most plentiful in the villages of Long Luong, Thong Cuong, Pa Phach, Na Ka, and Ang.

Tourist attractions on the stunning Moc Chau plateau are Pha Luong peak, the heart-shaped tea hills, the vast plum valley, and colorful flower-flanked trails winding through the mountains. Dai Yem waterfall, where Vietnam’s first glass-bottomed suspension bridge is located, offers a bird’s-eye view of the whole plateau. The pedestrian bridge, 80 meters long and two meters wide, can handle 50-70 people at one time and boasts a photoelectric sensor system and 30 special effects, including virtual flowers blooming, fish swimming, and heart shapes.
Nguyen Bich Hoa of Hanoi said, “I really love Moc Chau for its stunning mountain landscapes and pure air. We picked Moc Chau as the venue for our class reunion.”
The plateau is inhabited by the Thai and Mong ethnic minority groups, who like to show off their traditional lifestyle, cuisine, songs, dances, festivals, and folk games, including ball throwing (nem con) and walking on stilts (ca kheo).
Nguyen Thi Huong from Bac Ninh province said, “Here the air is fresh and the locals are really friendly. I visited the heart-shaped tea hills and played with some lovely ethnic children. It was lots of fun. Getting close to nature helps me release the stress of work.”

According to Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Moc Chau district People’s Committee, Moc Chau welcomed 75,000 tourists in October alone, an encouraging sign of tourism recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted tourism for most of the year.
“We plan to work with travel agencies to promote tours to Moc Chau. We hope our tourism sector will bounce back strongly as COVID-19 wanes,” said Hoa.
Hotels, resorts, and homestays in Moc Chau have been asked to strictly adhere to COVID-19 precautions and to stay committed to service quality, stable prices, and ethnic cultural preservation.
