Vietnam National Museum of History

 (VOVworld) – The Vietnam National Museum of History, with its French architectural style, is one of the most attractive museums in Asia. In early October, the museum hosted the 4th Conference of the Asian National Museum Association.

The Vietnam National Museum of History was officially launched on September 26, 2011, integrating the Vietnam History Museum and the Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution. These two museums were the first museums in Vietnam. The Vietnam History Museum was at 1 Trang Tien street in the 1926 building that previously housed Louis Fino Museum of the French School of the Far East. The Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution was at 25 Tong Dan street in a colonial building the Commercial Department of Indochina built in 1917. These two museum buildings, adjoining the Hanoi Opera House, make up an impressive architectural complex, which attracts a large number of tourists. Vu Manh Ha is Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History: "According to historians, history is a current and revolution is part of history, so it is important to merge these two museums. The Party, State and historians hope that this merging will create a national museum that introduces the thousand-year- old history of Vietnam”.

The Museum’s 4000 square meters displaying more than 10,000 documents and objects gives visitors a broad overview of the development of Vietnam from the prehistoric period through the national formation period 4000 years ago, the feudal dynasties, the national liberation struggles, and the national upraising and birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. The museum introduces the national resistance wars and the Vietnamese people’s achievements in national construction and development. It also contains a large collection of priceless objects from Nui Do, Hoa Binh - Bac Son cultures and Dong Son artifacts, ancient Vietnamese ceramic glazes, Champa stone sculptures; and bronze artifacts of the Le and Nguyen dynasty. Doctor Ha said:"Our museum currently maintains 10 national relics recognized by the Prime Minister. These unique objects are carriers of typical cultural values ​​of Vietnam. These include the Dong Son bronze drum, and the Dao Thinh bronze jar. These are unique artifacts and national relics that also includes President Ho Chi Minh’s Prison Diary”.

The objects and documents in the museum are displayed in chronological order. A recent exhibition of Buddhist artifacts and ancient Vietnamese lamps was displayed using 3D scanning technology for the first time in Vietnam. Hoang Quoc Viet works at the museum: "We developed an audio guide in English and Vietnamese to explain the exhibits to visitors. In virtual exhibit rooms, we use 3D technology and other cutting-edge display technologies to enhance the visitors’ experience”.

The museum, situated in a magnificent architectural complex and offering rich and diverse collections, interesting activities, and thematic exhibitions on Vietnamese culture and history, is a must-see for visitors to Vietnam. The museum has received more than 63,000 visitors so far this year.
