B: In his email to VOV this week, Mr. Neumann wrote: “I apologise for not writing to you for a long time, but I want to let you know that I still listen regularly over the Internet to English broadcasts from VOV and I am able to keep up to date with developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam while the roll-out of vaccines hasn’t been as widespread in Vietnam.”
A: Mr. Neumann expressed his interest in our Sunday show. “I found today’s ‘Sunday Show’ very interesting and informative. It was about producing a puppetry version of ‘The Tale of Kieu’ for the 2019 International Experimental Stage Festival. Making the puppets was a long and difficult task, especially creating the characters from the Tale that the audience disliked. The finished production won many medals, including gold medals for best play, best director and best visual artist.”

B: “The Music section featured 3 songs by a music producer, the second one titled ‘Magnolia Fragrance...’ Although I’m not a fan of ‘rap-style’ songs I must admit I like to hear what type of music is popular in Vietnam these days! B: We received multiple reception reports from Shivendu Paul of India this week. He listened to our broadcasts on July 17, 19, 21, 22, and 24 and rated the broadcasts on the frequency of 7220 kHz at all 4s. He wrote: “July 23 was the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games 2021. This year started without any viewers in the sports venue due to the pandemic situation. Some athletes already contracted COVID 19. I pray for all athletes of the games and look for the great success of Indian and Vietnamese teams. I love VOV.”

A: Thank you Mr. Paul for your reception reports. We wish our listeners and people around the world being safe and healthy during the spreading pandemic. Another Indian listener, Jayanta Chakrabarty, shared his interests in stories about Vietnam’s COVID-19 vaccination program. He wrote: “In the backdrop of rising cases of COVID-19, the country has planned to launch the biggest vaccination campaign to control the spread of the pandemic. Some 1200 vaccination centres will be set up to cater to 200,000 doses per day, while 100 emergency teams will standby for post-vaccination emergency aids. This ambitious measure taken on by the government is laudable. It is hoped that Vietnam will come out of the present problem and bring life back to normal again.”
B: Mr. Chakrabarty also shared his joy listening to our story about the establishment of a national vaccine institute and research centre for vaccine technology transfer and the government’s intention to use Artificial Intelligence for better treatment of diseases and applying advanced technology in traditional Vietnamese medicines.

B: This week, many listeners congratulated Vietnamese students for winning medals at the Int’l Maths and Physics Olympiad 2021. They lauded Vietnam’s education and asked about Vietnam National University (VNU).

A: As the first modern university established and one of the two national universities in Vietnam, Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU) has undergone various stages of development: the University of Indochina established on 16 May, 1906. In December 1993, the University was reorganized on the basis of amalgamating the University of Hanoi and some other leading universities in Hanoi.
B: VNU is the largest comprehensive higher education and research center in Vietnam. It is entrusted with the task of producing highly qualified human resources and talents for national industrialization and modernization.
A: In 2020, Vietnam National University (VNU) Hanoi retained its top 1,000 spot in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, an annual publication of university rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, specialized in higher education. This was the second consecutive year VNU Hanoi has ranked among the top 801-1000 on the list.
B: Located in the eastern part of HCM city - the most developed urban area of Vietnam, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh city (VNUHCM) was established in 1995 by the government to create a training center for undergraduate, postgraduate and science research, following high-quality and innovative multidisciplinary technology.
A: VNUHCM serves as the core of the higher education system and dedicates to the needs of socio-economic developments.

B: With the total area of more than 640 ha built in a modern design, it is one of the largest educational institutions of Vietnam. The university has over 60,000 full-time students with an academic team of more than 300 professors and associate professors and above 1,200 PhDs. As the leading higher education system of Vietnam, the training program of VNUHCM includes 99 disciplines/groups of disciplines, ranging from technology, natural science, social sciences and humanities to economics, healthcare. It also has more than 120 master's degree training majors and nearly 90 doctoral ones.
A: VNUHCM was ranked in the top 150 universities in Asia by the Quacquarelli Symonds Asia Education Organization (QS) for many consecutive years. In 2019, VNUHCM maintained its ranking in the top 701-750 by the QS UK, which evaluates over 1,000 leading universities in 82 countries.
