(VOVWORLD) - First of all we’d like to inform you of our new email address. From now on we will use the email address englishsection@vov.vn. Our old email address, englishsection@vov.org.vn will be closing soon.

B: Please change our email address on your contact list and send future reception reports to englishsection@vov.vn. Thank you.

A: This week we received many letters from listeners. Receiving handwritten letters is still one of the greateast pleasures of my job.

B: Misayo Tanaka living in East Sussex, the UK, told us: “It has been exactly one year since I last sent you a reception report. It seems that reception conditions are quite good around this time of the year. As I do not have a lot of knowledge about Vietnam, your broadcast is a very good resource for me. Your program on February 20, was, as always, full of interesting content – current affairs, economy, history, music, and more. I enjoy learning a little more about your country each time I listen to your broadcast.”

A: Japanese listener Fumito Hokamura of Japan sends us letters every month. He listens to our program on 9840 khz and notes stable signal quality. He said the program on February 22nd was clear with SINPO at 45433.

B: I’m reading a reception report from Hayato Hurukawa of Japan for a program received on February 15th on 12020 khz. He rated SINPO at 45333.

A: Thank you all for listening to VOV and sending us feedback. We’re glad to know that VOV’s transmission on 12020 khz and 9840 khz is good. We hope you will listen to us regularly to stay up to date on information about Vietnam and the world. We’ll issue QSL cards to confirm your reception reports.

B: In recent weeks, the news has been mostly about the COVID-19 epidemic that has spread from Wuhan, China, to many other countries. Many of our listeners have asked us about the situation in Vietnam and preventive measures being taken.

A: The COVID-19 outbreak is under control in Vietnam. No new cases have been recorded since February 13. Son Loi commune, which was reported 9 of the 16 coronavirus cases in Vietnam, has been officially declared coronavirus-free. Son Loi was placed under quarantine on February 13, but has recorded no new cases in the past 21 days.

B: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has removed Vietnam from its list of countries and territories that pose a risk of community transmission of the new coronavirus disease.

A: The CDC has assessed that Vietnam has enacted effective measures to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US said on its website last Thursday following a teleconference with the US Department of State, Department of Health and Human Services, and the CDC.

B: Because of strict preventive and quarantine measures at airports and border stations, Vietnam is now free from the virus, although the COVID-19 threat has resulted in multiple tour cancellations.

A: Travel firms have offered special promotions to woo visitors: cheap flight tickets and 50% to 60% discounts on inbound tours. For instance, Saigontourist is offering attractively priced package tours, such as a two-night Danang-Hoi An tour for 160USD and a three-night Dalat tour for 130USD.

B: Listener Yves Vavitu Salmon asked on our website if can he make a reservation for discount air tickets from a travel agency to visit Vietnam.

A: Yes, of course. You can consult your local travel agency or visit the online booking websites of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airline.

B: The Vietnam International Travel Mart 2020, scheduled to take place in Hanoi from April 1st to 4th will introduce several tourism stimulus programs, including cheap air tickets and vouchers.

A: The organising board has promised 100,000 cheap tickets, 1‌8,000 package tours, more than 15,000 vouchers for up to 50 percent discounts and many other gifts. Cheap air tickets can be purchased online via local booking agents.

B: You should visit the website https://travelmart.vn/ for more information about Vietnam’s top booking websites and other tourism promotions.

A: Now we’ll read some more letters from listeners. Muhammad Aqeel Bashir, a member of the International Radio Listeners Organization in Pakistan, reported listening to VOV on February 29th on 7220 KHz. He said the signal was fair with an SIO rating of 3 2 2.

B: Kamal Hossain, a member of the Independent Radio Listener's Club, told us that he listens to our program and visits VOVworld’s website regularly. He likes most of the programs and he has learned many things from them.

A: Wayne Nichols of the US listened on January 31st to a VOV program about Vietnam tourisim and Formula 1 racing in Hanoi. He said the reception was very clear with some slight fade but no noise.

B: Construction of the Hanoi Formula 1 circuit, which will play host to the first-ever F1 race in Vietnam in April, has been completed. Set to become one of the most challenging and exciting circuits on the calendar, the Hanoi Circuit will stage the third round of the 2020 season on the weekend of April 3-5.

A: The final 150m-long stretch of track was laid last week along the start/finish line to complete the 23-turn track, which features a unique hybrid design that fuses a street circuit’s characteristics with a permanent track layout.

B: The milestone follows the recent completion of the track’s stunning 300m-long pit building, whose spectacular design was inspired by Hanoi's famous Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and the Pavilion of the Constellation of Literature – the symbol of Hanoi.

A: With the permanent constructions now in place, the focus is now on the temporary structures around the circuit, including the Grandstands – each of which is named after iconic Vietnamese cities and locations.
