(VOVWORLD) - The digital technology industry has become the driving economic sector of Vietnam, playing a leading role and creating a foundation for the development of a digital economy, digital society and digital government. The development of Vietnam’s digital technology sector is not only reflected in “Make in Vietnam” digital technology products and solutions which have conquered both domestic and foreign markets.
After more than two decades since it first appeared in India, the FPT Joint Stock Company is now present in 29 countries, affirming its position as a leader in Vietnam’s information technology industry on the path to globalization. FPT’s sales in foreign markets have reached 1 billion USD, an increase of 25,000 times, with a workforce of 27,000 people, an increase of 900 times.
Le Hong Viet, General Director of FPT Smart Cloud, said that currently, FPT Group has more than 200 “Make in FPT” products which are also “Make in Vietnam” ones. These products have been available in many parts of the world for some time.
“Previously, when talking about information technology products, we mainly talked about foreign products, but now, many of our customers are starting to think about Vietnamese products, which shows their recognition of our products and trademarks. We realize that the “Make in Vietnam” brand in the technology industry is increasingly having a great influence on the society and businesses,” said Viet.

Following FPT is Viettel Military Telecommunications Group.
Viettel has penetrated into 10 markets with a revenue of nearly 3 billion USD. To achieve this success, Viettel representatives said that businesses need to study the culture, people, and political systems of the host countries. Along with that, businesses must have their own core values, showing their best strength, creating differences and respecting the laws in foreign markets.
Following FPT and Viettel, smaller-scale Vietnamese technology companies are making efforts to contribute to marking “Make in Vietnam” products on the world technology map. MISA Joint Stock Company is one of them.
Currently, MISA is operating in 20 countries with a revenue reaching 1 million USD. The company is mobilizing its human resources to do research and develop more products to supply to the market.

“We have begun to bring part of the MISA AMIS, a unified corporate governance platform into foreign markets. We have provided this service to about 3,000 to 4,000 customers in Europe and Southeast Asia with accumulated sales of 1 to 2 million USD. MISA also joins Vietnamese businesses in pioneering bringing Vietnamese products abroad, aiming to earn a revenue of about 50 million USD in the next 5 years,” Le Hong Quang, Standing Deputy Head of MISA Company, said.
Meanwhile, Tran Quang Cuong, the CEO of NextVision, a company founded in 2010, said NextVision’s dream is to bring Vietnamese technology products to the global market. NextVision’s products have been in the Japanese market in 3 main areas: software, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence.
At Asia’s leading technology exhibition Asia Tech X Singapore (within the framework of the 2023 Asia Technology Summit) in Sentosa, Singapore in June, NextVision signed a business cooperation agreement with Astrocast, a technology company in Switzerland specializing in developing small satellites to provide internet access devices. Under the agreement NextVision’s existing IoT platform will be connected to Astrocast’s current satellite system and NextVision is supported with experience from Astrocast to introduce its technology products to global markets, Cuong said.
“That is what we have achieved after one year of cooperating with Astrocast. Our products have recently been introduced to 5 countries. We have recorded a growth rate of 100% compared to the same period last year.”
According to Nguyen Thien Nghia, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Industry Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the world technology market is promising many opportunities for Vietnamese businesses.
Last year, Vietnam’s software and information technology services market was estimated at 2 billion USD, equivalent to the workload of about 200,000 engineers. Vietnam now has more than 40,000 businesses and 550,000 engineers. In particular, the biggest advantage for Vietnamese businesses when going global is high-quality human resources. Thus, the domestic market is too small compared to the scale of human resources. The successful lessons of Viettel and FPT have proven that there are many ways for businesses to go abroad.
“Vietnamese businesses have proactively penetrated foreign markets for a long time, such as FPT did in the 2000s, then by Viettel. Why can’t we do like India, and the Philippines, which have succeeded in building national brands for some industries such as the Indian IT industry and the Philippines’ service industry? That is the long-term orientation of the Vietnamese information technology industry. The first is building a national brand. Second, we’ll work together in each specialized field to create better effects,” said Nghia.
Nearly half of the world’s population of 8 billion people have not got accessed to the internet. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese digital technology businesses to expand their markets, solve digital transformation problems in other countries, and accelerate the process of building a digital world.
This year, the Ministry of Information and Communications is planning to launch a comprehensive campaign to support Vietnamese digital technology businesses which are doing or going to do business abroad.
