2023 Yen Tu Spring Festival

After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2023 Spring Festival officially reopened on the 10th day of the first lunar month, January 31st.

Yen Tu festival is one of the biggest and longest festivals in the northern region, which attracts thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and domestic and foreign tourists who make pilgrimages to Yen Tu to worship and pay their respects to the Buddhist King Monk Tran Nhan Tong.

Officials of Quang Ninh province attend a ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity, and offer incense and flowers to the first founder of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect – King Monk Tran Nhan Tong.

The path up Yen Tu sacred mountain challenges the endurance of pilgrims and tourists with its thousands of stone steps over many craggy and bumpy sections on the mountainside.

Hue Quang Tower at Hoa Yen Pagoda, which holds the statue of King Monk Tran Nhan Tong, was recognized as a national treasure in 2020.

Around Hue Quang Tower are centuries-old trees that still sprout green buds in the spring.

Pagodas and thousands of ancient relics in the complex embody the ideology of the Truc Lam Zen sect and the Vietnamese culture.

The Buddhist spirit of the Truc Lam Zen sect is still alive.

Van Yen Pagoda, popularly known as Ca Pagoda, is a place of practice, enlightenment, and inheritance of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen founders. King Le Thanh Tong (1442-1497) changed the name of the pagoda to Hoa Yen.

Mot Mai Pagoda is where King Monk Tran Nhan Tong wrote sutras.

In the early days of the Lunar New Year, the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape welcomed thousands of tourists and pilgrims.

The statue of King Monk Tran Nhan Tong weighs 138 tons and was manually cast in bronze. This is the most impressive path up Yen Tu sacred mountain.

Many foreign tourists share the joy of experiencing the impressive path up Yen Tu mountain.

Dong Pagoda (Bronze Pagoda) stands at an an altitude of 1,068m. Many people hope to come here once in their lifetime to offer incense and worship Buddha to prove their devotion.
