(VOVWORLD) - Bonsai kumquat pots in the shape of a typical communal house in rural Vietnam or an ancient house in Hanoi's Old Quarter are selling well this Lunar New Year season.

Bonsai kumquat trees are popular decorations for Tet. Bonsai kumquat trees of all shapes and sizes are flooding markets as the Lunar New Year festival draws near.

These beautiful bonsai kumquat trees are at the Tu Lien kumquat village in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district.

Bonsai kumquat garden owners said it’s a very meticulous and time-consuming process to grow a bonsai kumquat tree in such a pot. |

“It takes about 8 months from planting a bonsai kumquat tree in one of these pots until its covered with yellow kumquats,” said Ms. Linh, a kumquat garden owner in Hanoi’s Tu Lien village.

Instead of buying a bonsai kumquat tree, for half the price customers can rent one to decorate their home and return it to the garden after Tet.

As Tet nears, more and more customers are coming to the garden to buy bonsai kumquat trees.

A garden owner told us that, despite COVID-19, a lot of customers are coming to Tu Lien village looking for bonsai kumquat trees, although not as many as in previous years. The prices of bonsai kumquat trees here are almost unchanged.
