Charity provides frontline workers with free meals in COVID-19 fight

(VOVWORLD) - A total of 100 free meals each day are being sent to frontline workers currently in isolation areas in Buon Ma Thuot city in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak as they battle on the frontline against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The past 10 days has seen free meals provided for frontline workers and poor local people who are in an isolation area in Tan Lap ward, an area that has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. |
The meals are delivered by a group of volunteers in Thong Nhat ward in Buon Ma Thuot city, who have done the job for charity purposes for several years.

From 7 a.m. group members gather at the headquarters of Thong Nhat ward’s administration, with each person having a different task in terms of what food to cook.

This charitable activity first began in 2015, with group members being made up of volunteers and staff members from the administration of Thong Nhat ward.

Each meal contains sufficient nutrition for each person and meets all relevant hygiene standards.

Meals are carefully packaged and then brought to frontline workers in isolation areas starting at 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers hand over meals to disabled people and other underprivileged individuals.

An elderly 80-year-old lady sends her sincere thanks to the volunteer group. She still sells fruit to earn a living and to feed her two grandchildren, although her business has slowed due to the impact of social distancing measures.

The charity program has received plenty of support from benefactors.
