(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City has unveiled their initial draft design for the 18th version of the Nguyen Hue Flower Street, an annual event that is held to celebrate the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
The flower street will stretch for over 700 metres throughout Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in District 1. With the 2021 Lunar New Year ushering in the Year of Buffalo, the vast majority of the concepts and decorations for the upcoming event will focus on models of buffalos. |
According to organisers of the event, the design and architecture on display this year convey a message of environmental protection. |
A couple of buffalo models will be positioned at the entrance to the Flower Street which has been held annually to celebrate the traditional Tet since 2004. |
At the Flower Street, visitors will find 26 buffalo mascots, sending a message of gathering of friends and family reunions ahead of Tet. |
The highlight of the street is set to be a large model of a smart city, with local authorities keen to promote images of a dynamic and vibrant metropolis. |
A garden filled with orchid flowers is to be set up on the street. |
Similar to previous years, the 2021 version of the Flower Street is due to be decorated with environmentally-friendly materials. |
In particular, a special corner will be set up to display flower arrangements from representatives of 10 consulate generals in Ho Chi Minh City. |
Work to decorate the street will begin from January 25, according to organisers. |
The Flower Street is scheduled to open to visitors from 7 p.m. on February 9 (or the 28th day of the 12th lunar month) and will run to 9 p.m. on February 15, 2021. |
