A COVID-19 treatment hospital located in Hoang Mai district of Hanoi serves as an intensive care unit which provides emergency treatment to severe and critical COVID-19 patients.
Doctors don protective gear ahead of each shift.
Doctors and nurses are mobilised from Saint Paul hospital, whilst volunteers also come from the Hanoi Medical University.
Severe COVID-19 patients are hospitalised for one month, with some cases being in hospital for over two months.
The majority of patients suffer from underlying illness such as diabetes and a high blood pressure.
A board monitors the health of all patients throughout the whole day.
Each day sees the hospital receive between 20 and 30 cases in critical condition. The majority of them are elderly people aged 80 to 100 who are suffering from underlying health issues.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Paediatrics Hospital 1 has opened its first COVID-19 treatment facility specifically for child patients.
The site has a capacity of 120 beds.
The facility is currently offering treatment to 60 young patients positive with COVID-19 and suffering from underlying illnesses.
Around 5% of children have been found to be positive with COVID-19 so far, according to Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, deputy director of HCM City’s Department of Health.
Young patients in critical condition are put into rooms with cameras for 24 hours a day.
