(VOVWORLD) - Visiting the Vietnam – Germany Culture Festival 2020 in Hanoi these days, Vietnamese people, German citizens and foreign tourists have the chance to taste German beer, one of the most famous alcoholic drinks in the world.
The Vietnam – Germany Culture Festival 2020 (Kulturfest) opens in Hanoi on October 2 to promote cultural identities of the two countries.
The event is co-hosted by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and Huong Sen Group. In the photo is VOV President Nguyen The Ky greeting the participating delegates.
In his opening address, VOV Vice President Ngo Minh Hien notes VOV is ready to bridge the friendship and cultural exchanges between the two counties.
Participating delegates raise a toast to the fine development of Vietnam-Germany relations.
Part of the event is a German beer festival, a reminder of Oktoberfest held annually in Germany.
The festival aims to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchanges as well as economic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, as well as Europe in general.
Representatives of many Vietnamese and German organisations attend the event to honour the German culinary art.
Germany beer is noted worldwide for its pleasant taste. It is refreshing, slighter drier and bitter than Czech beer. Germany ranks third in Europe in terms of per capita beer consumption, behind the Czech Republic and Austria.
This year’s Oktoberfest does not take place due to COVID-19, but German beer lovers have the chance to taste their favourite alcoholic drink in the heart of Hanoi capital.
Dozens of German beer styles served at the festival in Hanoi are imported from Germany, according to organisers.
One of the favourite is beer from the Weltenburg Abbey Brewery, the oldest in the world. It is made by fermentation on the top and processed from wheat malt with typical hops of the Welternberg region.
Alongside German beer, visitors are able to enjoy German’s traditional dishes with 100% of the ingredients imported from the EU nation and cooked by five-star chefs.
Organizers bring 200 traditional dresses of German women to Vietnam to present to visitors, and hold traditional folk games to recreate the original Octorberfest in Vietnam.
The Vietnam – Germany Culture Festival 2020 lasts three days till October 4 at 37 Hung Vuong Convention Centre, Hanoi. Admission fee is VND1.3 million (US$56) per person.
