Severe flooding wreaks havoc in central Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Heavy rain in the central region over the past two days has caused floodwater to rise at a rapid pace, negatively impacting the daily lives of local people.
The water level on rivers throughout Quang Binh province exceeds warning level 3. Most notably, floodwater on Kien Giang river in Le Thuy district is one metre higher than its historic peak which was reached in 1979.
The homes of many residents in Le Thuy district sit one to five metres deep in water. Indeed, an estimated 70,000 houses across Quang Binh province have been left flooded.

The administration of Ha Tinh province has been making every effort to help citizens, evacuating 15,000 households to safety.
With floodwater rapidly rising throughout Ha Tinh province, many roads have been left engulfed in water, making them virtually inaccessible for local people and emergency services alike.
Over 300,000 students from 667 schools across Ha Tinh province are left unable to go to school on October 19.
At present, the central region is experiencing historic levels of flooding, with the weather pattern engulfing tens of thousands of houses.
