(VOVWORLD) - The ABU 2022 Award Ceremony took place on Tuesday as part of the 59th ABU General Assembly in India.

Each member organization is allowed to submit only 1 entry for each of the radio and television categories, and 2 for the Digital Media category. Award-winning stories must have a distinct approach, structure, and writing style and contain profound humanistic and predictive values. The awards honor not only the authors, but also the press agencies they work for.

Olya Booyar, Head of Radio for the ABU, said the winning pieces surprised her a lot as a jurywoman.

“I was very pleased to hear a story about conserving nature that profiles an everyday hero. This work was elaborately produced and touched the hearts of every member of the jury. The way he uses the character's voice and the way he sings is very special. Only one piece by VOV and 3 pieces from 3 different Chinese stations were selected for the final round. And VOV’s work won. That was a big surprise.”

“The Voice of Vietnam has actively participated in ABU activities over the years. We’re very proud of our cooperation and partnership with VOV. Many ABU member stations, including VOV, are facing challenges, but the way for us to move forward is to cooperate. We appreciate cooperation, dialogue, sharing challenges, and sharing ways to turn challenges into opportunities,” said Dr Javad Mottaghi, ABU Secretary-General.

On November 29, the 59th ABU General Assembly opened, with 400 delegates from 40 countries representing 50 radio and television stations. On the occasion, multiple seminars on broadcasting content and techniques were held.
