(VOVworld) - The 2012 Hue Festival will open in the ancient capital city this Saturday. Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee Deputy Chairman Ngo Hoa said that the festival is part of the annual national tourism year. It will feature the northern central coastal region and Hue ’s local heritages. Hoa said 40 groups of artists from 28 countries will perform at the week-long event: “The festival needs to revive itself by offering visitors a chance to explore the  values of Hue ’s cultural heritage and promote the city and Vietnam ’s tourism potential to the world. The Hue festival is the highlight of the tourism year. I hope visitors will be impressed and come back to further explore Hue ’s heritages, its people and cuisine.”

The biennial festival will feature a recreation of a royal worshiping ritual, a royal court music performance and fashion shows of traditional costumes from Vietnam and other Asian countries, such as Japan , the Republic of Korea , India , Mongolia and Thailand . More than a hundred delegates from dozens of countries across the world will take part in the  annual conference of the association of historical cities during the festival week.
