In a press briefing following the match, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger expressed his delight with the welcome provided by the Vietnamese fans. He pointed out that Vietnam’s defeat was due to a weak defense but said he was impressed by team captain Nguyen Tan Tai. Wenger repeated his invitation for a UK visit to 20-year-old fan Vu Xuan Tien who ran five kilometers alongside the Arsenal team bus in a bid to meet his heroes. Vietnam’s head coach Hoang Van Phuc said his players learned many lessons from this competition: "The Gunners are very expert in their profession and tactics. They play at high level so our failure was no surprise. But the Vietnam coaching staff is happy and satisfied with the consolation goal scored in the last minutes of the game". Right after the press briefing, the guests departed for Japan, the last destination in Arsenal’s pre-season Asian tour.
