The viaduct is one of the key projects marking the 30th anniversary of Lao Cai province's re-establishment on October 1.
The Mong Sen viaduct, whose construction began in early 2020, has a length of more than 600m. It connects the bottom and top of a treacherous 80m slope, one of the most dangerous sections of the route from Lao Cai city to Sapa town. The 22-million-USD project aims to meet increasing transportation demand in the region and improve the efficiency of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway.
