(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam held a meeting to celebrate Cubans Hiron victory 52 years ago. Nguyen Duy Cuong, Vice Chairman of VCFA, Loida Rivera, Economic Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, and Jauch Federico, Chairman of the Switzerland-Cuba Association, attended the meeting. At the opening ceremony, Cuong said the Giron victory on April 19, 1961, was important to Cuba’s struggle for national independence and to all of Latin America. For Vietnam, as a third-world country, the Giron victory was a huge encouragement to its national liberation movement. Cuong said that over the last two decades, Vietnam and Cuba have helped each other through tribulations and the shared triumph of victory.
