Cycle for newborns journey finishes in Da Nang

(VOVworld) - The 1,600-kilometre “Cycle a Difference” journey, which began in the northern mountain province of Lao Cai two weeks ago, concluded in the central city of Da Nang on Saturday.

UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung and Director of the municipal Health Department Ngo Thi Kim Yen joined 30 local and foreign cyclists in the final stage of the journey.

The event aimed to raise funds for charity activities of the UK registered Newborns Vietnam organisation. The money will also be used for projects to minimize mortality rates among newborns in Da Nang City and neighboring localities through professional training for doctors, nurses and medical equipment supplies.

Over the past 3 years, the Cycle a Difference has raised more than 600,000 USD and attracted 92 cyclists from around the world to join challenge ride of 115,000 km.
